Raq Servers

The most exciting purchase during 2008 has to be my servers 2 Colbalt Raq550,s both with twin 80 gig drives and 1.5 gig of ram they are running Strongbolt/Bluequartz software. The servers are running this website all from my home/business broadband connection from demon internet (8 static IP addresses).i have also added a windows server running on a dell 2250 completely refurbished with 4 X 60 gig drives running raid and a massive 2 gig of ram. The servers fully reburbised and with warranty / some support is available from £200 to £450 depending on specifications and they work straight out of the box. All you need to do is set up your websites and ftp the files to it, You can configure and work on this linux box from a windows pc attached to your network. If you would like any information or advice on this setup or are considering purchasing a server please get in touch with me.

Flashcom/Flash Media Server
One of the most exciting releases from Macromedia is flash communications server, It's capabilities never cease to amaze me, it offers realtime video audio conferencing and video streaming. most of the chat/conferencing applications on this website are powered by it. We have also created applications like the website answer phone and our video email application using it

Web Camera's
We are currently running 18 web camera's, They are all live streams. The cameras in use at the moment are two Philips TouCam plus camera's,one Aiptek home cam, two Intel unbranded camera's, two dream logic camera's (those are all USB camera's) Then we have Five wireless IP cameras all supplied by network camera.co.uk they work right out of the box and with my netgear wireless router they will return excellent images and streams up to 100 yards from my router. six of the USB cams are using webcamXP PRO to send streams, One is using Inetcams beta product (petvista) to send video and audio streams and all five wirelesS camera's are using the basic java script included in the package to stream. Our cams are live 24/7 except for occasional maintenance and some are showing our African Grey Parrots so take a look and see them play.

help pages
Like me I imagine that you worry about whats being installed on your pc, download programs often contain other programs that you neither asked for or really wanted ! but how do you know whats being installed and loaded/run every time you start up your pc ? well i thought that i would pass some of my favourite applications on to you.

linux help pages
I have recently set up for myself a pc running CentOS 4.5 and also helped several others do the same for using with red 5 and wowza media servers, Two of the most difficult things to install were apache tomcat 6 and java JDK6 and most of the guides and forums seem to be out of date or uncomplete so i have created some pages here with some detailed instructions for you. I hope you find them useful.

Wowza Media Systems
Anouncing what seems to be a really good commercial alternative to Adobe® Flash Media Server. The Wowza Media Server employs the Real Time Messaging Protocol (RTMP) to deliver true streaming of Flash video, audio and data over the Internet to the Adobe Flash Player. It was architected to give the Flash community a flexible, feature rich, developer-friendly and cost effective platform for the deployment of a wide range of applications, including Video on Demand, live video distribution, video recording and chat.I will be converting various FMS/Flashcom applications to test here

An improved video conference system
With video audio and text facilities, PLUS some new extra items
The new additional items are a shared whiteboard and a shared textboard, both created "on the fly" (using the textboard collaborators can type on the same text line at the same time). The Webshare feature allows each connected user to "push" a webpage to all other connected users(pop blockers need to be off or allow popup from this website) another additional feature is that if you have a file on a website you can send it to co users here using webshare, (the file needs to be available from a url)

let me know your thoughts on this please
